  1. The ABC Daytime ╥The City╙ CD-ROM

  3. The ABC Network Communications Department is proud to present ╥The City╙ CD-ROM.

  5. The CD-ROM contains program information, biographies and video clips on ╥The City,╙ a new daytime series which premieres on November 13,1995.  Program information and biographies can also be printed from the application.  In addition, there is an ABC PhotoGrid image viewer application and high-resolution JPEG compressed images for reproduction.  The "PhotoGrid" software allows you to print a proof of a single image with caption or groups of five smaller images with captions on one page.

  7. This interactive CD-ROM will run on both Macintosh¬ and Windows¬ computers.

  9. For best performance, use the following guidelines in setting up your computer to view ╥The City╙ CD-ROM on the Macintosh:

  11. 1. Quit all other applications.
  12. 2. Use at least a double speed CD-ROM drive.
  13. 3. The City program will switch your display depth to 256 colors. 
  14. 4. Turning off AppleTalk in the Chooser will improve video playback. However, the printing functions will be disabled if you print to a networked printer.

  19. 68040 or better processor
  20. 8 mb RAM
  21. 256 color depth support
  22. Double speed or faster CD-ROM drive
  23. QuickTime v2.0 or later for Macintosh

  29. When printing, the application may run more slowly until printing is completed.

  32. PhotoGrid for Macintosh:

  34. Double-clicking ABC Television PhotoGrid icon will open the application in a 3 x 4 grid.  These cells can be resized under the GRID, RESIZE CELLS... menu item.

  36. Additionally, the cells may be dynamically resized by selecting a cell (indicated by a dotted line around the photo and the pointer changing to a double-headed arrow) and dragging a corner to the desired size.

  38. If an out of memory error occurs while launching the PhotoGrid, increase its memory partition and try again.

  40. The size of the grid can be changed to suit your preferences either by dragging the size box in the lower right hand corner of the PhotoGrid window or by using the commands under the GRID menu.

Once the PhotoGrid is opened, double-clicking on an image will bring up the full caption for the photo.  When the OPTION key is pressed and a photo is double-clicked, a 400 pixel x 400 pixel image is brought up along with brief caption information.  If Adobe Photoshop is installed on your computer, when the COMMAND key is pressed and a photo is double-clicked, that photo will be opened in Adobe Photoshop.  A JPEG plug-in must be in your Photoshop plug-ins folder.

  44. For this CD-ROM version of the PhotoGrid, only the FIND... option is enabled in the THUMBNAIL menu.  Holding the COMMAND key and pressing F will activate the find feature.

  47. The "PhotoGrid" application requires the "QuickTime¬ 2.0" extension to be properly placed in the Extensions folder in your active System folder.
